arachnoid (adjective) – like a spider's web, like a cobweb; composed of, or covered by fibrous strands of hyphae that are radiating more or less parallel, or may be irregularly oriented, but loosely interwoven; typically applied only to surface that lack a cortex; frequently used to describe the structure of a pro- or hypothallus.
