reacting ZnIKI positive (ZnIKI +) (adjective) – reacting with chlor-zinc iodine. Used in lichenology to distinguish dead algal cells in microscopic sections of the phenocortex of some species.
(Recipe: stock solution = 100 g zinc chloride and 35 g potassium iodide in 60 ml distilled water; working solution= stock solution mixed with 1.5% IKI in the proportion of 9 : 1.)
