–ic (Greek &Latin,suffix) – descriptive; "being ...", "with the nature of ..."; e. g., saprobic (being a saprobe, i. e., a destruent/decomposer of organic material), epiphytic (being an epiphyte, i. e., a "plant" growing on the surface of other plants).
