oceanic (adjective) – (1) distributional: towards the sea (i. e., the ocean), thus in proximity to the sea and influenced by the moderating effect of its climate, but not necessarily strictly following a particular coast, cf. coastal. (2) climatic: influenced by the moderating effect of an ocean; oceanic climates are generally less extreme, with milder winter as well as summer temperature.
