pseudoisidium (noun, pl. pseudoisidia) – a nodular to cylindrical and sometimes branched thallus outgrowth, superficially resembling an isidium but with a different anatomy; always lacking a photobiont and, if at all, covered only by an ill-defined, often discontinuous, cortex; like an isidium probably also serving as a somatic propagule. Kind of: isidiomorphs,upper surface structure.
