Cyanobacterium
cyanobacterium (noun, pl. cyanobacteria) – a prokaryotic alga, i. e., an organism composed of photosynthetic cells lacking nuclei and cell organelles like chloroplasts, but capable of forming aggregates, colonies and even truly multicellular forms composed of several differentiated cells with different shape and function, all of which are capable to communicate with one another (i. e., the only multicellular prokaryotes); classified as Cyanophyta, Cyanobionta, which are part of the Eubacteria; often loosely referred to as blue-green algae. Kind of: photobiont.
