diameter (noun, pl. diameters) – the width of a structure or object measured across the centre of its main axis; often abbreviated as diam.; recorded either as a categorical value (relative in comparison to another similar structure: narrow vs. broad), or as absolute measurement (e. g., a stem with a 10 mm wide cross section). Related terms: width.
