flora (noun, biogeography term, pl. floras) – (1) a group of all the plants or plant-like organisms confined to a particular area; the vegetation of a particular geographic region; e. g., the flora of North America. The term flora has traditionally been used also for fungi, bacteria and other organisms originally believed to be plants. Some scientists prefer to emphasize that fungi are not plants and therefore refer to a "mycoflora" as mycobiota; (2) a reference or identification guide to plants or plant-like organisms.
