Lichenicolous
lichenicolous (adj.) – growing on or in lichens. It is frequently assumed that lichenicolous fungi are generally parasitic, even though this is hard to prove. Many lichenicolous fungi could also be parasymbionts, i. e., entering a lichen symbiosis as an additional commensalistic, saprobic or epiphytic partner. The term, though most commonly used for fungi that grow in or on lichens, is not necessarily restricted to these organisms. Many bacteria grow lichenicolous, even animals like some mites, which are particularly associated with lichens, could be called lichenicolous.
