Longitudinal

longitudinal (adj.) – across the length; e. g., (1) as applied to spore septa: septa dividing the spore into several cells along its length axis and across its median axis; (2) as applied to the thallus: longitudinally split, thus causing vertical fissures breaking through the wall.
