Medullary exciple

medullary exciple (noun, pl. medullary exciples;ascocarp term) – the central part of a thalline exciple that essentially represents the same part as the thallus medulla; frequently filled with crystals; in the thalline exciple a distinct medulla is often not clearly differentiated from the part where the photobiont cells are present. This is:part of ascocarp.
