oblong (adj.) – shortly cylindrical; less than twice as long as wide (length-breadth ratio < 2.0), with parallel margins and truncate to barely rounded ends (obtuse); almost rectangular but with rounded corners. Typically used for small objects like spores, but not commonly used to describe tiny objects like conidia; cf. bacilliform.
