oil droplet (noun, ascospore term,spore morphology term, pl. oil droplets) – coagulated storage lipids frequently found in spores; the space between several droplets of a spore cell is easily confused with spore septa and clearing the spores with 5% (or 10%) KOH typically dispersed the lipids.
