Ascoplasm

ascoplasm (pl. ascoplasms) – the cytoplasm of the ascus (or pre-ascus). During ascospore formation the ascoplasm is cleaved into epiplasm, remaining outside the newly formed ascospores, and sporoplasm, i. e., the new cytoplasm of the ascospore cells; cf. free-cell formation
