Pseudopodetium
pseudopodetium (pl. pseudopodetia) – a stalk that is structurally similar to a podetium but did not derive from an extension of the hypothecium, i. e., not formed from hyphae of the ascocarp, but instead entirely composed of thallus material; erect or ascending, not dorsiventral oriented; usually not hollow, but a more or less solid aggregation of hyphae; composed of fungal hyphae only or containing also photobiont cells; usually bearing one or several apothecia; sometimes simple (e. g., Baeomyces, Dibaeis, Pilophorus) or rarely branched (e. g., Pycnothelia, some Stereocaulon species) or extensively branched (e. g., most Stereocaulon species).
