Catenate
catenate (adj.; alternative spelling: catenulate) – in chains, forming chains, as if linked together in a chain. Referring to distinctly separate cells that often, but not necessarily remain attached to one another, thus forming chains; e. g., the photobiont Nostoc typically forms short "chains of pearls" within lichen thalli; conidia often form in distinct chains before they break apart; cf. arthrocatenate, basocatenate, blastocatenate; catenuliform; moniliform.
