Torus
torus (noun, ascospore term, spore morphology term, pl. tori) – a bulging or rounded projection or swelling forming a dark band or ring along a spore septum; often visible in the light microscope as a darkened triangle where the spore septum joins the lateral wall, sometimes more distinctly forming darkened bands parallel or closely associated with a spore septum; typically found in ascospores of the lichen genus Rinodina; the ultrastructure of the torus remains unresolved and the cause why a distinct torus can be observed in the light microscope but apparently does not correspond to the ultrastructure of the cell wall remains unknown. This is:part of spore septum.
