hysterothecium (noun, pl. hysterothecia;ascocarp term) – in a strict sense only used to refer to the elongated, lip-shaped ascolocular pseudothecia of the non-lichenized ascomycete Hysterium; more generally also applied to some lichenized ascomycetes with lirellate, ascolocular pseudothecia like Opegrapha; most liberally used even used to refer to any lirellate ascocarp, whether ascolocular or not, e. g., for the lirellate ascohymenial ascocarps of Graphis.
