medium-sized (adjective) – crustose lichens covering considerable amount of substrate, most thalli of small-lobed foliose lichens and some smaller fruticose lichens, e. g., most species of Ochrolechia, Physcia, small, shrubby species of Usnea like Usnea hirta etc.
