cup (noun, pl. cups) – the uppermost part of goblet-shaped podetia in the genus Cladonia; in the strict sense cups have a closed bottom (like a wine-glass), whereas the term scyphus is instead is used for a podetium that apically broadens into a bottom-less, open funnel.
