locule (pl. locules) – a small cavity; (1) referring to spore cells: one part of the cell lumen formed by constriction of the cytoplasm, not yet divided into distinctly separate cells; cf. polarilocular; (2) referring to ascocarp ontogeny: a cavity that forms from differentiation of ascostromatic hyphae inside a primordium; cf. ascolocular.
