Rimose-areolate

rimose-areolate (adjective) – (secondarily areolate): an initially rimose thallus with expanding cracks or fissures, secondarily delimiting areoles, which are not lined by a cortex; see rimose: thallus and/or thallus surface with fractures or fissures.
