Rimose

Rimose (adjective) – irregularly cracked, chinked or fissured; referring either to the thallus surface or to the entire structure of a crustose thallus, i.e., the rimose growth form. (1) rimose growth form: a crustose thallus that no longer has a continuous, intact surface, but is starting to break up, becoming finely fissured or coarsely cracked, but these fractures not being lined by a cortex and not delimited into distinct areoles (see rimose-areolate). (2) rimose thallus surface: a fissured or cracked surface.
