rhizohyphae felt (noun, pl. rhizohyphae felts; synonym: hyphal net; from German: "Hyphenfilz") – a mat of loose "brushes" of long rhizohyphae which penetrate deep into the substrate, occurring in placodioid soil- and cleft-dwelling lichens. This is:part of lower thallus surface.
