–phobous (Latin,suffix) – emphasizing an intolerance of a particular substance or ecological condition, i. e., "not tolerating ...", "not growing on ...", "inhibited by ..."; e. g., a calciphobous lichen does not grow where calcites are present in the substrate, its growth is inhibited by the presence of calcites.
