Angiocarpous
angiocarpous (adj.; alternative spelling: angiocarpic; synonym: endocarpous) – with an enclosed development of the sporocarp, i. e., the meiosporangia (e. g., asci) forming inside and being covered by wall layers of the sporocarp; in an ascocarp with an angiocarpous ontogeny the primordium develops into a mature hymenium inside the walls of the ascocarp and may only become exposed at the very last stage of the ontogeny, i. e., when the ascospores have reached maturity.
