Ascus pendant

ascus pendant (noun,ascus term, pl. ascus pendants; synonym: subapical thickening) – lower extensions of the bourrelet, surrounding the axial canal; literally meaning hanging because the pendants appear to be hanging down from the tholus into the ascus.
