auct. (Latin,abbreviation) – auctorum, of authors, following several authors; generally used in place of an author name, if the taxonomy of a name has not been resolved or to indicate that a species concept different from the original author was adopted and erroneously promoted; to clarify the original concept the abbreviation s. str. is frequently used with the original author, but never in conjunction with auct.
