Central cone

central cone (noun,ascus term, pl. central cones) – the inner, conical and typically non-amyloid part within an otherwise amyloid tholus, especially if cylindrical (e. g., Bacidia-type ascus), otherwise usually called apical cushion. This is:part of ascus.
