Holotype

holotype (noun, pl. holotypes;nomenclature term) – the single most important specimen from the original collection, referring only to one single specimen designated as type in the original publication by the author of the species; the holotype must be designated in the protologue as one single collection to be kept at a particular herbarium that must be generally accessible to the scientific public; preferably not a private collection.
