Record
record (noun, pl. records) – an account of information or knowledge that is permanently stored, in printed, electronic or other form. A record gives evidence or proof. In a biological context the term record often refers to measurements (e. g., the coldest temperature on record), reports of observations (e. g., the earliest record of a lichen dates from the Devonian Rhynie Chart) that are typically backed up or supported by reference collections (e. g., a fossil, a preserved specimen or culture, etc.).
