Rhizoid

rhizoid (noun, pl. rhizoids) – a root-like filament lacking nuclei typically found in chytridious fungi (and not in ascomycetes), for nutrition as well as attachment; in ascomycetes sometimes applied in the sense of rhizohyphae. This is:part of lower thallus surface.
