scarce (adjective) – infrequent an not plentiful, of a small amount; occurring in small quantities, i. e., a species is scarce if its populations consist of few individuals, which may or may not be restricted to a limited area; e. g., a may be quite common but still typically occur with only a few individuals; opposite: abundant.
