Spathulate

spathulate (adjective; variant spelling: spatulate) – spoon-shaped, like a spathula (= spatula) i. e., flattened with a long and narrow stalk, gradually widening or swelling at the tip. The swelling at the end of spathulate structures occurs gradual in contrast to the abrupt, knob-like swelling of a capitate structure; Related terms: capitate-spathulate.
