Synonym

synonym (noun, pl. synonyms;nomenclature term) – any name that refers to the same taxon as another, not necessarily earlier, name, even though it may or may not be based on a same or different type; the basionym is automatically a synonym of every new combination because both are based on the same type; other synonyms include names that are based on different types but have been recognized to refer to the same taxon; also see priority.
