dispersed (adjective) – spread-out, scattered, widely distributed, not aggregated; either referring to (1) the thallus growth form, e. g., a crustose thallus consisting of scattered areoles, or to (2) the distribution of scattered individuals, e. g., a population that is widely dispersed. Related terms: diffuse, distributed.
