paraplectenchyma (no plural; synonym: pseudoparenchyma, no plural) – plectenchyma of very tightly packed, short-celled hyphae with a cellular appearance similar to true tissues (parenchyma) of vascular plants. The hyphae in paraplectenchyma that are densely coherent but have relatively thin walls with large lumina and have thus a distinctly cellular appearance. In microscopic sections the orientation of individual fungal hyphae can typically not be distinguished and the cells are more or less isiodiametric in shape.
