Decorticate

decorticate (adj.; alternative spelling: decorticated) – with the cortex removed, i. e., originally corticate but secondarily loosing the cortex (the cortex falling or scaling off, or decomposing), sometimes covered by soredia (but not with corticated granules); cf. ecorticate, erose, byssoid.
