Decorticate

decorticate (adjective; variant spelling: decorticated) – with the cortex removed, i. e., originally corticate but secondarily loosing the cortex (the cortex falling or scaling off, or decomposing), sometimes covered by soredia (but not with corticated granules). Related terms: ecorticate, erose, byssoid.
