Subspecies
From LIAS Glossary
subspecies (noun, pl. subspecies;nomenclature term) – a taxonomic rank below the species; although no general agreement exists, how this rank is to be used, it has been suggested that it might be best suited to describe differently distributed populations of a species; currently the rank "subspecies" is rarely used in mycology or lichenology because it has been discredited by extensive use in the past; also see variety and form.
