Gyrose
gyrose (adjective; variant spelling: gyrate) – folded-up, curled, curved back and forth, convoluted (like a brain), often rolled into a spiral or circular pattern (like a liquorice roll or cinnamon bun), having a folded or ridged surface; generally referring to apothecia that are folded into layers of sterile plectenchyma derived from the exciple and generative parts derived from the hymenium; gyrose apothecia are particularly common in Umbilicaria.
