Intermediate layer

intermediate layer (noun, ascospore term,spore morphology term, pl. intermediate layers) – a thin layer sometimes developing during spore ontogeny between the primary and secondary spore wall and thus separating a proper spore wall from the perispore. An intermediate layer is not typically present in all ascospores. This is:part of spore.
