isogamic gametangiogamy (noun,no plural) – the fusion of two gametangia that appear structurally identical or very similar but nevertheless typically contain genetically different nuclei. Asci are typically formed directly from the fusion cell of the two gametangia. In yeasts uninucleate somatic cells directly act as gametangia, fuse and the fusion cell, the zygote, directly develops into an ascus.
