Periphysis

periphysis (noun, pl. periphyses;ascocarp term; synonym: ostiolar filament) – a short, unbranched hypha lining the ostiolar canal and not reaching far into the perithecial cavity, i. e., not reaching all the way between the asci-like pseudoparaphyses; compare periphysoid. This is:part of ascocarp.
