From LIAS Glossary
pyrenomycete (noun, colloquial, pl. pyrenomycetes;ascocarp term) – originally proposed as a class of ascomycetes reproducing from unitunicate (including operculate or inoperculate) asci borne in true perithecia, i. e., poriform ascocarps with ascohymenial ontogeny; no longer accepted as scientific taxon name, but still used in a descriptive, colloquial fashion to describe any ascomycete with poriform ascocarps (pyrenocarps).
