Spreading

spreading (adjective) – extending in length and breadth in all directions, flattening out, extending; (1) referring to the growth of prostrate fruticose thalli: grow horizontally outwards and eventually covering large areas (in contrast to erect or pendent thalli); (2) as applied to thallus surface structures like hairs: fusing and eventually covering the whole thallus.
