Centrum

centrum (noun, pl. centrae;ascocarp term) – in the context of ascocarps (synonym: carpocentre): the central part of an ascocarp, directly derived from the primordium; in the strict sense more or less equivalent to the thecium and only the directly surrounding layers of hyphae, i. e., the proper exciple.
