Corona

corona (noun, pl. coronae;ascocarp term) – a crown like, radiating structure surrounding the disk of an apothecium; (1) most generally used for any appendages emerging from a thalline margin of an apothecium, including cilia, lobules, etc.; (2) in a strict sense applied to the parathecial crown, i. e., a distinct rim formed by the proper exciple and conspicuous between the disk and the thalline margin of a lecanorine apothecium. This is:part of ascocarp.
