Perithecium

perithecium (noun, pl. perithecia;ascocarp term) – a globose to flask-shaped ascocarp opening at the top with a small, rounded pore (ostiole); in the strict sense only referring to ascocarps with ascohymenial development but frequently used in a wide sense to refer to any poriform ascocarp. Related terms: pyrenocarp.
