Syntype

syntype (noun, pl. syntypes;nomenclature term) – one or several original collections of type material that was mentioned in the original publication without designating a holotype, i. e., at a time, when the rules to select a holotype did not yet apply; whenever possible a lectotype should be selected from these syntypes to clarify the type concept of a taxon.
